In traditional music business, Producer points are royalties or a percentage of earnings, which are paid to producers who have worked on a song. This payment is usually done in addition to the artist’s share and can be negotiated during the production process. Producer points typically range between 2-6%, depending on the budget of the project.
For Briyan Frederick music, I am taking inspiration from artists who have crowdfunded their music who have sold shares in their music to fans via crowdfunding sites such as Kickstarter and PledgeMusic. These shares usually give the buyer a certain percentage of producer points associated with that particular song or album.
Briyan Frederick producers share in the following revenue:
- Digital downloads
- Physical album sales
- Radio plays
- Streaming services such as iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify and more
- Royalties from songwriting and publishing
- Video monetization from YouTube and other streaming services
- Live performance royalties
- Merchandise sales
- Synchronization rights for TV, radio, movies and more
Each Briyan Frederick release is shared 50/50 between the recording artist and its producers. There is a limited inventory of 100 producer shares available for each release. Each share receives a 1/2% royalty from all possible revenue listed above. You may purchase all 100 shares and receive 50% of the royalties from the recording and its artwork.
